ALUNAGEORGE – Your Drums, Your Love

I don’t want to get too ahead of myself, but I think London duo Aluna Francis and Georgie Reid (AKA: AlunaGeorge) have delivered a contender for our top 100 songs of 2012 with their latest track “Your Drums”.

Fusing distinctive R&B bass music alongside sliding electric piano, pads and cute female pop vocals, their latest track is smooth sexy and surreal. Their approach marries a sub-pounding beat to hazy pads and chilled tones that compliment, confuse and intrigue. It’s proving to provide the perfect backing track to a (very) slow Sunday afternoon.

For Arcade Fires fans, this song sits in the same vein as their take on Mr. Little Jeans‘ “The Surburbs”, but needless to say this is not a bad thing.

The single is officially out on October 7th and is a preview to their anticipated 2013 debut album.

If you’re looking for some more action, you can check out the video clip to “You Know You Like It” which was released this time last year:

Tom lives and breathes new music. He co-created The Ripe with Huw Nolan to fuel his sick obsession for local culture and use his experience in digital media and public relations to propel new music in to the broad realms of the inter-webs. Apart from what you see here on The Ripe, Tom listens to a lot of jazz music (weird, we know) and is always searching for the next big thing. Tom is a bit of nerd, he built our website from his bedroom and takes care of content, digital media, advertising and business direction. He is enthusiastic and energetic guy, attributed to his love of coffee and is in a serious relationship with his Mac Book Pro.
